The Epic of The Far Kingdom, # 1
Wealth and power in the metaverse meant a stock of fresh, original, and engaging ideas. In a world pioneered by a young David Parker was the Far Kingdom, a nation of humanity surrounded by unique races of humanoids. In that kingdom was the Archduke Josef Chambry of Burnt Meadow. His sigil was an armored bear, and foolish were those who supposed him dim-witted because of his strength and size. His was of an ancient line of nobles dedicated to a spirit of fierce manhood, personal strength, valor, and power. Their House Words were: "Never say it twice." In some ages of the Far Kingdom, he controlled more fertile land than the King himself.
Josef Chambry, being a Chambry who maintained the spirit of The Bear, would not be outdone by competitors of shameful origins, such as The Rat, or bizarre foreigners like the Doll Mage. He shrewdly set about claiming memetic control of bears of all kinds throughout the metaverse. Wherever a bear was involved, Chambry sought control, whether it was Ursa Major or Winnie the Pooh. Moreover, he gained appeal with the great nation of Russia, doing his level best to integrate their culture under the reign of The Armored Bear of Chambry. His efforts were not unfruitful.
Though a human noble from an obscure world, Chambry's originality bought him a considerable presence in the metaverse, especially since most of the internet was not aware it was possible to do something like claim memetic control of bears. Taking them unawares in the same manner as The Rat, Josef the Bear of Burnt Meadow was establishing strongholds while most of the metaverse was not even aware interaction was possible.
Bold and fearless, Josef Chambry decided to send his heir, Rigel Chambry, to Havenforth University, the academy at the nexus of all worlds. He risked his firstborn son to send him so far from home, but Josef was intent on making a worthy successor, and HU was the place to do it. Rigel arrived with a retinue of followers, every one tested in battle, including Rigel himself. The young Chambry was intent not only to learn, but to represent both his kingdom and his own noble house to other nations and worlds, not to mention to represent the world he hailed from.
The metaverse had languished under the control of mega-rich for far too long. It was time to wrest control of the world of imagination from what amounted to mega-corporations, and place it into the hands of nobles hungry for glory, like Josef Chambry and his heir. The Armored Bear had arrived in the Metaverse.
